Chinwe C Ohajuruka Chinwe Ohajuruka is an architect, project manager and sustainability consultant. She is the CEO of Comprehensive Design Services (CDS), a business that is located in USA and Nigeria. CDS primary focus is on the design and large-scale development of the Passive House Prototype (PHP) into sustainable neighborhoods. The PHP is a "Whole System Design" affordable solution to the challenges present in many sub-Saharan Africa of large housing deficits, inadequate power, inaccessible water and limited improved sanitation. The PHPs are low-energy, self-cooling, bio-climatically designed housing modules that respond to the climate change mitigation and adaptation needs of the most vulnerable nations. CDS focuses its efforts on social impact projects, and aims to do them profitable. It is our firm belief that every human has the right not just to shelter, but to live in beauty and dignity in a place that they can call their own. With our projects, we aim to create opportunities for employment, wealth and home ownership. The homes we create are designed with sustainability and dignity in view. We are unafraid to accept the challenges of designing in and for communities where poverty is high and opportunities are low. We also believe that until the private sector engages in the widespread provision of affordable housing profitably, housing deficits, homelessness and hopelessness will continue to grow.
