Canada Club of Victoria Canada Club of Victoria The origins of the club go back to 1940 when the Canadian Women's Club of Victoria was formed. It was formed by Canadian women in Melbourne who found it difficult being so far away from Canada. Later, the Canadian Men?s Club was formed for business reasons, by men interested in doing business between Canada and Australia. The Canada Club of Victoria was established in 1981 with the amalgamation of the Canadian Women?s Club of Victoria and The Canadian Men?s Club. This section is dedicated to the history of the Canada Club of Victoria. But the history of the club really comes in three parts. Going all the way back to WWII, the Canadian's Women Club of Victoria was set up for Canadian war-brides that came to Australia. Later, in 1981, the Women's Club and the Canadian Men's Club of Victoria club joined to form the Canada Club of Victoria. Listed below is three different sets of articles for your review. The Women's Club History articles are a compreshensive look at the first 20 years of the Canadian Women's Club of Victoria. It is divided up into an Introduction and seven chapters. The Canada Club History articles were articles compiled by former Club President Baxter Henderson. These articles were put together so they could appear in the club newsletter to give club members the chance to read up on the club's history. Much of the information from these articles came from the first set of articles (lots of details were omitted), but this is also some additional information added as well. The final section is the Executive History of the Canada Club of Victoria which lists each Executive position and the person that held it for every Executive since the club was Incorporated.
