About Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map)

Interactive Map on Migration, i-Map Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) The Interactive Map on Migration (i-Map) has served as a support instrument to intergovernmental dialogues on migration since 2006. Its objective is to facilitate access to and exchange of information through a wide range of services e.g. migration country profiles, visualisations and news. i-Map concept The i-Map is a support instrument aiming to enhance and facilitate intergovernmental information exchange, and to support the development and implementation of knowledge-based co-operation initiatives. The i-Map concept builds upon an online interactive platform serving a wide range of users, principally governments of participating states, as a source and exchange instrument for factual information on migration matters. The i-Map concept is applicable to any geographic region, and is ideally embedded in an inter-regional forum on migration. Geographical coverage The i-Map is a global concept which can be applied to any geographical areas in line with their regional specificities. Currently i-Map outputs are being developed within the geographical regions covered by the following i-Map projects: The MTM i-Map, implemented in the framework of the Dialogue on Mediterranean Transit Migration (MTM), focusing on southern migration routes; The Prague Process i-Map, implemented in the framework of the Prague Process/BMP, focusing on eastern migration routes; The i-Map on Silk Routes, implemented in the framework of the Budapest Process covering Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan; and The Rabat Process i-Map, implemented in the framework of the Rabat Process focusing on North, West and Central Africa. Background The i-Map was initially developed in 2006 by ICMPD, Europol and Frontex as a support instrument to the Dialogue on Mediterranean Transit Migration (MTM).
