COALITION OF AFRICAN AND CARIBBEAN COMMUNITIES, AFRICOM COALITION OF AFRICAN AND CARIBBEAN COMMUNITIES (AFRICOM) Africom is a 501 c3 organization, formed in May 2001 by 15 organizations, from 15 African and Caribbean nationalities. As an umbrella organization, its mission is to: be an information clearing house for African and Caribbean communities; build the capacity of member-organizations to serve their communities; advocate for the African and Caribbean communities on issues related to refugee resettlement, social services, employment and job training, health, education, culture, safety, housing, immigration, etc; undertake needs assessments; write grants and other applications to fund projects, programs beneficial to member-organizations; and encourage member-organizations to undertake independent projects and solicit support for such projects beneficial to their communities.
