RESEARCH
Our aim is to advance understanding of how migration shapes and is shaped by broader development processes. IMI is pioneering new theoretical and methodological approaches that produce impactful research. We work with researchers and policy-makers in the global South and North to foster better understanding of the multi-level forces driving current and future migration processes.
IMI conducts a range of research that are clustered under four broad and often inter-related themes.
TEACHING
IMI combines multi disciplinary expertise with analytical thinking to train the next generation of migration scholars. We bring the latest research in migration methods, concepts and theories from across the social sciences into the classroom through our teaching programme.
ENGAGEMENT
We prioritise collaboration and effective engagement with academics, policy makers, practicioners and the general publice. Our dynamic programme of events, publications and online tools forges networks and meaningful engagement.
