Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, MALDEF Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund Mission Statement MALDEF strives to implement programs that are structured to bring Latinos into the mainstream of American political and socio-economic life; providing better educational opportunities; encouraging participation in all aspects of society; and offering a positive vision for the future. Board of Directors MALDEF is headed by President and General Counsel Thomas Saenz and is governed by a 30-member national Board of Directors. MALDEF National and Regional Offices Headquartered in Los Angeles, MALDEF operates five regional offices in Los Angeles, San Antonio, Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. MALDEF Property Management Corporation (MPMC) MALDEF Property Management Corporation (MPMC), a 501(c) (3) organization, manages the building which serves as the National Headquarters and Los Angeles Regional Offices for MALDEF. The MPMC building also serves as a unique professional environment primarily for other non-profit organizations that provide assistance to minority and other underserved communities. MALDEF’s 40th Anniversary Founded in 1968, MALDEF celebrated 40 years of advancing Latino civil rights at the organization’s birthplace, San Antonio, Texas.
