Tanzanians in Washington Tanzanians in Washington Jumuiya DMV is a non-political, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, advance, and protect the interests and welfare of Tanzanians residing in the Washington metropolitan area. We are about assisting our members in times of need, and to promote cultural, educational and commercial relations between our land of birth Tanzania and our land of residence the United States of America. Mission Our mission is to put in action our recognition that in unity we can improve our lot, taking advantage of our presence in the United States while preserving and advancing our culture and values. Given these values, we are determined to make a positive contribution towards uplifting ourselves as an involved community. Main task, which extends to all members and the purpose of our Association, is: - Seeing to the welfare of all Tanzanians in the DMV. - Fostering a stronger relationship among Tanzanians in the DMV. - Promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among Tanzanians in the DMV. - Making sure our Association acts as the only representative body and mouthpiece of members and people with interest in Tanzanian affairs. - Dedicating ourselves to the unity, progress and strength of our Association. - Organizing and implementing social, cultural and educational activities that meet the needs and interests of members. - Working cooperatively with public and private agencies, businesses, and community organizations through the exchange of ideas on issues of interest to our members and the community.
