Battered Women of Cape Verde Islands Battered Women of Cape Verde Islands BWCVI (Battered Women of Cape Verde Islands) founder and president, Arminda Pires-Whitehead receives a donation from McDonalds owners Paula and Don Wright, a C.A.B.O. Board Member. BWCVI, a 501c3, operates a support center for victims of domestic violence on the island of Fogo. Since its creation in December 2007, the center has attended more than 120 women. The facility also serves as a shelter for victims in emergency situations. The objective of BWCVI is to build shelters on all of Cape Verde's islands. To date, Donald Wright has donated four vehicles, $20,000 clothing, food and other articles to the charity.
