Jamaican Diaspora Foundation The Jamaican Diaspora Foundation (JADF) was established in response to a mandate from the 2004 Jamaica Diaspora Conference and was formally incorpo­rated in 2009. The Jamaica Diaspora Institute (JDI) is the operating arm of the JADF, and is located in the Mona School of Business and Management at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. The principal goal of the JADF is strengthening the engagement of persons and groups in the Jamaican Diaspora in Jamaica's development. The JADF seeks to achieve this goal by working in collaboration with the government, private sector, and community-based organizations in Jamaica to have productive engagements and partnerships with the Jamaican Diaspora and Friends of Jamaican Diaspora worldwide. The JDI was established to carry out the mandate of the JADF of having a more effective relationship between Jamaica and its Diaspora. The JDI carries out the mandate of the JADF by promoting the princi­ples of Inclusiveness, Value-Added, Connectivity, and Synergy and Col­laboration in Diaspora. Jamaica Diaspora Institute Vision: The JDI is the premiere institution in Jamaica for effective engagement of the diaspora in Jamaica’s sustainable development. Mission: The JDI will develop and implement strategic initiatives to assist in building, strengthening and mobilizing sustainable networks of Diaspora members and Friends of Jamaica and their resources for maximizing their contributions to the economic growth and social development of Jamaica, and increase Jamaica’s influence worldwide. Goals: JDI is currently working on: Building its institutional capac­ity for the implementation of programmes for effective Diaspora engagement. Designing and implementing strategic initiatives that will maximize the value of the Diaspora to Jamaica and the host coun­tries in which they reside. Marketing and promotion to enhance the visibility and impact of the JDI.
