Nuru Center Nuru Center 1 - Who We Are: Nuru Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides assistance to poor children, especially those orphaned by HIV/AIDS in the rural areas of Kenya. The organization is the brainchild of three friends ? Shem Orwenyo, Bilha Gichuki and Gladys Mutinda. All three are committed to giving back to the rural communities in which they grew up. 2 - Mission: To empower orphaned and poor children in rural Kenya to achieve their highest potential and grow to become confident, competent, self-reliant, and productive members of their communities by providing food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and educational opportunities. 3 - Financial Accountability and Reporting: As a 501(c)(3) public charity, the Nuru Center relies upon the support of generous public to fulfill its mission. As such, stewardship and transparent accountability is an integral part of everything we do ? because we recognize that every resource entrusted to us can transform real children?s lives.
