About Hope of Guinea
Hope of Guinea Hope of Guinea Who We Are: Hope of Guinea (H.O.G.) is a 501c3 non-profit organization created to help the underprivileged children of Guinea gain access to education. H.O.G. is committed to breaking the barriers that prevent disadvantaged children from attending school. In Guinea, the weight of tradition and poverty can be major barriers to education for children, especially girls. Many underprivileged children are unable to attend school because their parents cannot afford to send them due to lack of money, school supplies, textbooks and uniforms. These parents have to choose between feeding their family and educating their children. Many of these children are spending their child hood and adolescence doing household chores or income generating work instead of attending school. These youth who do not attend school are often systematically exploited and abused. We believe that one of the most empowering ways of breaking disparity across gender and poverty is through education, as we believe EVERY CHILD HAS A RIGHT TO EDUCATION. We are dedicated to ensuring that under privileged children are not forgotten, but given the same opportunity to be a productive member of our society. 1 - Mission: Hope of Guinea is a non-governmental organization created to help the underprivileged children of Guinea. We believe that nurturing, caring and guiding children in the right path, promoting education are the cornerstones of human progress. Hope of Guinea was created with this purpose in mind to work with others to promote education, to overcome violence, discrimination, sexual abuse against the underprivileged children of Guinea. 2 - Vision: While all children are born equal, they do not grow up the same and do not receive the same opportunities in life. Hope of Guinea was created to not only to be the voice of disadvantaged children but to support them in any which way possible. We aspire to close the gap between children who have every opportunity to succeed and those who do not. Every successful person has been helped along way therefore it is Hope of Guinea?s mission to give back to its community by putting in place a mechanism that will positively change and enhance many lives. The Board of Directors and Hope of Guinea in its entirety pledges to help promote a better life and better future for the underprivileged. As John F. Kennedy said ?Ask not what your country can do for you?ask what you can do for your country.? 3 - Values: As a non-profit organization, and as individuals, Hope of Guinea values integrity, honesty, openness, excellence, determination, constructive self-criticism, and mutual respect. We are committed to our country, children, and have a passion for achieving a greater good for our beloved country. We take on big challenges, and pride ourselves on seeing them through. We hold ourselves accountable to our community, donors, and volunteers by honoring our commitments, providing results, and striving for the highest educative equality between the children of Guinea.
