Description: The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing sustainable water projects to communities in sub-Saharan Africa who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation. For over seven years, we have been helping communities gain access to clean, safe water by providing training, expertise and financial support for water project construction through our staff and implementing partners. We grow and learn by... Going and Doing - We don't just write checks. We are deeply involved in the hard work of providing water. Taking Risks - We invest in new and growing partners whose contributions are crucial to solving the water crisis. Making Mistakes - Risks and mistakes go hand in hand. It happens. We learn. We share our experience so others won't repeat them. Always Listening - There is much to glean from our neighbors. We drink it all in. Through Our Partners We equip, train and fund local NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and missionaries with an established in-country presence who can help provide access to clean water and ensure its maintenance over time. Smaller, more nimble, and locally-based implementation partners are incredibly effective and efficient at providing sustainable clean water solutions. Together with our staff, they identify, implement, report on and follow up with every project. We then share learnings across all our programs. For Communities We've learned that water doesn't change anything. People do. We provide a helping hand to the people we serve. It is our profound conviction that, given the opportunity, our global neighbors are ready to innovate and lead themselves out of poverty. We're humbled to accompany them for a time on their journey. The Water Project is currently focused on work in communities throughout Burkina Faso, Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda. We have also previously funded projects in Cameroon, Haiti, and India. With Your Help We tell stories; the story of water, the story of change, and the story of hope. Stories inspire people to raise the money needed to fund this work and to dig wells and install other water projects at schools, medical centers, churches and other public places in under-developed nations. Then, we connect everyone involved to the specific project they helped fund. We show where every dollar is spent. We show every outcome. And when it doesn't work out, we show that too. That's how we share the whole story with you, building a foundation of confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
