||Mission: African Women Australia (AWAU) works to Advocate, Represent, Train and Empower African women and their communities within Australian social policy; locally, nationally and internationally. Advocacy: AWAU's advocacy encapsulates research, consultation and the collation of information and issues impacting the lives of African Women, their families and communities. Some of the issues advocated on in the past have included; Family and children; Housing, Employment, Domestic violence. ?AWAU monitor's such issues to ensure the appropriate outcomes are achieved. AWAU offers flagship training on rights and representation skills to enable African women to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to represent themselves and their communities at all relevant levels of Australian society. We aim to strengthen the voice of African women and their communities through participation. AWAU provides training on Human Rights for African communities and service providers as well as training on representation and leadership skills.AWAU fosters an empowered African community through participation in talks, conferences, advocacy and training. We provide an avenue for African women, societies and organisations to come together and share ideas, raise awareness of important issues, network and form new collaborative partnerships.
